Is there a way to adjust the bale density on a 634? The bales were 'ok' but could do with being tighter. And how much would the type/condition of the grass affect it?

Not familiar with that bailer but as a rule, speed over ground (how fast or slow the pickup eats the hay) will determine the density of the bale. The faster you go the less dense the bale will be. The slower you go the more dense it will be.

I have a 630. Make sure your tension springs are within spec, but my experience is driving slower makes a better bale. I bale about 4 MPH.

One reason why I bought a new Kubota bailer is bale density is all hydraulically controlled as in no tension springs.
