Hey folks I have been having an issue with my engine. When she warms up and the rpms are at 2500+ after a couple on minutes-literally at the 1:16 part in the video all heck breaks loose. Knocking smoking, when I idle her down it stops and clears up till I raise the rpms up again. Smoke is fuel - not anti freeze. Oil is clean and I did a fuel filter change a little sediment in the bottom but not bad. There if black floaters in the fuel line (bacteria) and I have also done a whole fuel dump, 13 gallonsTC40DA hydro smokn' and knocks'. Here is the link to the video:

Update I have removed the fuel tank thoroughly cleaned it, it was nasty, cleaned out the line, replaced the fuel solenoid and still the same! I think the only thing left is to take it into the dealer and have them check the injectors and the injection pump.......I'm guessing a $2000-2500 bill, any ideas......I even built a separate fuel cleaner to to polish any fuel that goes into the tank I don't want to clean the tank ever again! Also I cleaned my fuel cap- that was nasty as well. Everyone says it's starving for fuel, to me the only thing left is the pump and injectors.....

Have you tried loosening a line, AT THE INJECTORS 1 at a time while its knocking?? IF/WHEN the sound changes or quits, you found your suspect cylinder.. just move THAT injector to another hole, furthest away & see if the problem follows the injector..
IF there is no change in sound.. chances are, its a rod..

Check if the ign switch do not stuck in the heat posision and give power to your thermostart ?

Have you tried loosening a line, AT THE INJECTORS 1 at a time while its knocking?? IF/WHEN the sound changes or quits, you found your suspect cylinder.. just move THAT injector to another hole, furthest away & see if the problem follows the injector..
IF there is no change in sound.. chances are, its a rod..

I was just thinking about this.....this process would narrow down the injectors but it would necessarily rule out the injection pump???? Or am I thinking about this too hard

Check if the ign switch do not stuck in the heat posision and give power to your thermostart ?

Good call but the switch is fine- I can go all day below 2600 rpms with no problems but once I do ........

IF you loosen the line AT THE INJECTOR your removing the fuel being delivered to the injector.. THEN you can narrow it down by moving THE INJECTOR. & AFTER those checks, we'll move on..

OK this is what i found....... a little humble pie........., when I check the oil level before I was on uneven ground, today when I check ed it on level ground I was WAY too high, so I drained the oil and I was supposed to have 6+ quarts I had 8.5-9 quarts in it!!!!! It seemed thin, so here is my theory, the fuel pump is bad/going bad and I am pumping fuel into my oil pan via the pump. I am going to take a new sample of iol tomorrow to have it tested for diesel, if there is then its the $100 pump, if there isn't and my boy screwed up and put too much oil in. When I put new oil in I ran her at 2600 rpms for over 15 minutes with no issues. I will keep you posted!

I had a friend who inadvertently put too much oil in his atv. Precisely the same symptoms. He drained some oil and problem solved.
