Anyone really compared the TC33 and JD 3520?

Price: I can buy the TC33 w/ supersteer for $1200 less than the 3520. But the 3520 has more PTO hp and overall HP (37 vs 33).

I am planning on keeping this tractor for the long haul (20 years) and want to make the right decision and not buy something that is unproven or will break.

I like the NH loaders but JD now has a 300 CX loader that seems almost better than the LA loaders. The NH rep mentioned the weld on the JD but I am not sure that is an issue?

Any help here is appreciated!
I am about researched out.

If you belive the tractors are about equal, pick the better dealer.

Have them bring the tractors to your place and demo them for 3 hours each. You will know after 3 hours with each machine.

Would a dealer actually do that? I don't think the dealers I am dealing with would actually bring their tractors out unless they were delivering for purchase.

iltractor, a good dealer will work with you on that.

Years ago, our Ford dealer delivered and let us use a Ford 1520 hydro. We didn't like the hydro for our application. So we asked to try a 1520 with the 9x3 transmission and they brought one out for demo and it never went back to the dealer.

That being said, our dealer knew us and that we were serious about the Ford and were committed to a purchase.

As far as test drives on site, my closest dealer wad 60 miles away and he volunteered without my asking, to bring up a nhtc26 and a kubota bx24 to try out at my place. I have rocky terrain and I was worried about ground clearance and stability. I had a date booked ("no obligation; keep 'em all day") but then decided the bx was just too small (scut vs cut) so I bought the tc26 (which I love after 25 hours). So I think it's a fair request and a good dealer should jump on it.

With a $1200 difference on a machine you plan to keep for 20 years there will be a $60 a year difference in the machine (plus whatever financing differences there are). For $60 a year I would pick the one that felt most comfortable to operate, and the one I thought would best accomplish the tasks I want the tractor to complete.

I did a search on the JD forum regarding 300CX failures, and found this thread that could be what the dealer was talking about: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66389

In reading the thread I found that there was a problem that has been taken care of by JD, and it is not a problem in the current loaders. This was the closest thing I could come up with as an issue with the loader.

When I was comparing NH and JD it was between the 3520 and the TC35. I had done the research (6 months worth) and both were about even until I did the test drive. The TC35 was a larger tractor than I wanted at the time. My decision was easy after that point (although my daughter wanted the "blue tractor").

Looking back I probably should have gotten a larger tractor so I could move large hay bales easier.

Even if it is a test at the dealer, test drive before you buy. You wouldn't but a car without a test drive.

Thanks all.

I ended up buying the NH TC40DA. Should be here tomorrow. 16 LA loader with Hydro trans.

Paid 23400 for tractor loader, H. duty bucket and tooth bar and rear remote hyraulics.

Now I just need a few attachments.
