What is your opinion between the NH TC30 and the Kubota L3400 ( 4WD, FEL)? How about price? Any other suggestions for the 30-35HP, 4WD, FEL setup??

You are getting more tractor in the 3400 then in the TC-30 so it would depend on you and your chores.

I agree with Art. These tractors are sort of a mis-match in size & power.

To really give you much advice, I think it may be helpful if you could provide a list of tasks that you want to accomplish, and if you can prioritize them with the most important first then that would be even better. Also what implements do you want to run and what sizes are you looking to power? What type and size of property will the tractor be used on? What features do you consider to be must have features (HST or Gear)? adjustable lower links? fixed or folding ROPS? live PTO? Heavy or light overall weight? Rear remotes? Tire type?

Thanks for your responses! I have 36 acres, but only mow about 10 of that. I have a 7.5' bush hog and a 6' back blade. I need a FEL on the new tractor. Most of the time I will need the tractor for pulling logs, mowing, maybe some post holes, and other general uses. If the NH TC 30 isn't a good comparison, is there a better match from another manufacturer? A friend of mine swears by his Kubota and you can't beat the repuation, I am just looking for a comparable tractor at a lower price. Maybe I shouldn't look that hard and just go with the Kubota!

I'm not sure that I would want to try to run that large of a rotary cutter with either of those tractors. The Kubota model you are looking at has just shy of 30pto hp. The NH model you chose has something around 25pto hp. The only bush hog I ever ran was a 60" unit and it took every bit of power my B2910 has (30 engine hp, roughly 25pto hp) when the going got tough.

You might want to look at something in the 40 to 45hp range? If money is an issue, perhaps the Kioti DK40 or DK45 or the same tractors sold by Cub Cadet as a 8404 and 8454 respecitvely. Both brands sell the same machines, just different paint and names. Mahindra has machines in that range and are reported to be good values. The other twin tractor brands Century (possibly now called Zetor) and Branson might be choices to look as also, they are known as quality value units. Both brands are the same machine, just different names.

The TC 30 is a bit small... The Kubota would be about right...or a Deere 990 would be a good match. Also, the Deere 4310 would be good, especially if you want a hydro tranny.

What did you use to pull that 7.5" cutter before? I'd reckon that cutter weighs in excess of 1000 pounds. Is it a 3PH type, or a pull behind (pull behind models require less PTO power)?

In your circumstances, the Deere 990 would be an outstanding choice. I recently had a chance to operate one (for a couple acres) with an 84" finishing mower behind it. Boy...it's definitely more tractor then my 790! That 990 could have ran an 8' finishing mower with no problems.

BTW, the 790 and TC-30 are comparable machines...about the same power as the Kubota B2910 and B tractors...actually, the 790 and TC-30 have a couple more PTO HP, if I recall the specs correctly.

Ted, the other manufacturers have a tough time keeping up with Kubota as they had a just few years head start! Their standard tractor offering is quite large alone not counting the deluxe models. The model L-4400 model would be a better choice but I'm still curious over the actual weight and style of the 7&1/2' bush hog as that can put considerable weight on the rear when raised causing major weight distribution troubles ie: light front end! That with low horsepower can mean big trouble. Even the MX5000 might be light for the mower. What did you run it with?

I wrote incorrectly that I have a 7.5 foot rotary mower deck. It is 6 feet wide (74 inches to be exact).

I've been using my Ford 800 to mow the fields and do some blading, but, as has been noted, the front end is light and it just doesn't have the whole package I need for the other things I need to do.

Price is a consideration. I want to stay under 15k with a FEL. Without our acreage yielding any return right now, I just can't justify spending more. Our near future plans are for some meat goats, which is why I will be putting in fences. But it will take a while to turn a profit at that, so we are trying to get the most bang for our tractor buck!

I think you should check out the Kioti CK30, and the LB3054XS. Both of these tractors would be capable to carry your mower, and do most any of the tasks you're going to need to do.
You should be able to get them within your price range more or less, and the CK30 can have an optional mid PTO for a mid mount mower (MMM) option if you like that.
The hookups on the CK30 are telescoping, making hookup much easier, as are the sway bars/stabilizers.
You owe it to yourself to check out as many brands as possible, and to actually get on them and do some work with them before buying. Otherwise, you just won't know what you're getting.
Make sure when pricing that you actually compare all the included and optional equipment as most brands charge extra for many of the Kioti standard features. Happy new year, and good hunting. John
