NH TC45DA
I know there is a "Fuel" forum, but I have a question that pertains to my TC45DA. I bought it new in 12/06. My dealer said that I should use off-road fuel in it because the low sulfur fuel will harm the engine unless I use an additive with it. Is this true? Will "road" diesel harm my engine?

Never heard that......I have been running "road fuel" in my TC55da for over 300 hours and no trouble.

ccap74... IF you thought the ULSD was a problem.. you can always add a lubricity modifier.. like power service.. etc. many of us run something like that year round.. etc.

*Not here cause we only have one stuff to use in tractors cars trucks and home furnaces.

I have been running "road fuel" since I got my NH in 2005 and ULSD since the MA mandatory "switch" (date unknown). I do not like ULSD's cold weather gelling challenges, but I have been using Power Service (White Bottle as recommended for warm/cold weather). I have not had any fuel problems since the addition of PS and my dealer starting adding a lot of kerosene to their ULSD. I agree with soundguy. Jay

O NO ! here we go again/ just kidding-- he may be referring to sulfur content of the fuel/usld is limited to 15 parts per million and nrlm #2 fuel can be no more than 500 ppm/more sulfur content may have some advantages to seals, o-rings ,etc

I pretty much run road fuel in my diesels cause it's so hard to get to an off road pump.. and i hate toting cans to fill a 20g tank!

On road fuel will not harm your TC engine, It has been estimated that 75 to 80% of all compact tractors are using On road fuel.

A fuel additive is a good idea and a must in cold weather.

The EPA will requiring that all engines built on or after Jan 1st 2008 which meets tier 4 specs must have a decal that states the use of low sulfur or ultra low sulfur fuel only. This is only required in order for the new engines to meet emissions requirements

I've run "road" diesel in my TC 40D for over 6 years now and before that used the same in my Ford/NH 1720 for over 12 years. Never have I added any additives either. My only concern was gelling in the winter and I just wait a little while into the fall until the stations start to use a winter blended fuel.
