Jim Ange and I spoke today and if all goes as planned the tractor will be in his yard in two weeks time. I went down to where it is stored today and gave it a good scrubbing and degreasing. When I was done I threw the jumper cables on her, warmed her glow plugs and she turned right over with very little issue. Right now she's sitting on the trailer ready to go. Here's a short video clip tour of her running on the trailer. Lots of work to do...

That is an impressive backhoe for the Bolens. My little G154 seems to be light in the front even when I have my tiller hooked up in the back, let alone a backhoe. How deep does it dig?

I've dug down about 5' deep with her no problem. I think max reach is close to 7' if I remember correctly. The backhoe on the machine was installed by the dealer and has been off only once. It does make for a bouncy ride with the extra weight, but boy does it give some good traction to those AG tires.

I have on thing to say about the backhoe.
IT SURE BEATS A SHOVEL !!!!

Take your time and it will do anything.
Takes all day. but, I've dug out 34" dia stumps,
it will break almost a 2" root.
It will dig 5' 6' feet no problem.
It's Great for sauna tube footings or trenching.

I have a loggers choker hook on mine, I use it to move logs.
It'll drag out a 34" X 8' log it wount lift it but
it'll drag out and and set one end up on anther log
so you can chainsaw it.

Best thing the hoe does is scratch up hardpan so you can
use the FEL to more the dirt. My FEL doesn't even touch
the hardpan dirt I have.

And "bouncy ride" is an understatement !

Plus what an "A TICKET RIDE" it is
when you drive it sideways on a hill.
First time I put it sideways on two wheels ...
I needed to change my panties !!

Dropped my machine off at Jim Ange's place tonight, 60 minutes door to door. Looking forward to hearing from him early next week with a diagnosis. He feels its the center bearing, likely gonna need a clutch kit as well. Decided to get it done while the machine was cracked in half. I just realized I should have asked him to take photos while it was broken down.

The clutch throwout bearing seems to be a week spot on thes tractors.
Good new is he very famlar with how to get at it. Have just done my last week,

BTW: He had al my bad parts for me to veiw.

I think I may have to bring mine to him next to have the same work done. I adjusted my clutch out as far as I could, and it works well now, however in the future, there is no room for adjustment. Thanks for all the information! Its hard to find someone who knows how to work on an Iseki in the area. Dave, how is yours working out since the service?

Dave, Jim showed me your parts... Wow must've sound wonderful trying to clutch that thing!

Andrew,
Mine is running fine, Haven't really beet on it yet.
Mine did exactly what your saying,
I keep adjusting it (even cut 1/2 off the rod)
for a long while the only why I could get it in gear was
engage the Backhoe (put load on PTO pump).
I had a rope tied to one of the backhoe boom contol,
Clutch down, Pull rope, watch PTO, when PTO stopped , then shift.
Eventual even that didn't work.

Seems as though the mower requires a front PTO. Sadly I dont have one. Any of you guys use a Brush hog on your machines? I am in the market for one to mow the acreage I have up north. I am thinking a 48" cut is about the maximum for this machine. Happy to hear thoughts or leads for something affordable and used.

The front PTP shaft just bolts to the engine damper pulley,
Surprised yours is missing..
look hard it under all the FEL frame.
There is on on Ebay.

Bolens Iseki 1502H PTO Shaft | eBay

You probably cant use a belly mover with the subframe FEL/Bachoe.

Watch out for used 3pt movers.
Some of the (older) Japaneses tractors spin the rear PTO CCW.
I believe ours are all the standard US/EU CW rotation.
Plus with high speed 3pt attachments you should use an overrun gear.

I guess this must be the place that the take off gets installed, but there's not much room for it with the FEL frame in the way.

I found a starter switch on ebay, I know that you were looking for one. Bolens Iseki 1502H Start Switch | eBay The front PTO adapter installs between the front bumper bracket and the radiator grill like in the photo below. I wouldn't mind the belly mower, but with my R1 ag tires, I would just tear the lawn up. I do want to eventually get a 4ft brush hog. I know that they are all over craigslist, and new at TSC.

It should be behind the small white plate that is below the radiator screen. You will have to remove the two bolts on either side to expose it.

Great pix of the front PTO belly cutter,
Like I said fat chance getting belly cutter under the unit with
the FEL/backhoe sub frame.
But a snow blower might fit.

Years ago on my old g154 that had no FEL/Backhoe
I found a v-drive pulley that fit the front PTO
I welded up a bracket and mounted a Meyers Snowplow (truck type) hydo-pump to it.
I weld fabricated a strong subframe lift and push bar from heavy angle Iron
then hooked up a 7' Meyer Snow blade to it worked like a champ.
And it look cool!!!
My Buddie pushes snow with it for years

I also connected a 3000 watt 220VAC generator to it.......
The generator was from a standalone unit that had a dead BS gas engine.
That was a different story,
These cheepo Generator are real fussy about RPM,
just a few rpm to low or high and they put out nothing.
It was hard to keep tractor RPM constant without a real governor.
I started to make a snowblower from 2 walk behind unit welded together
but we trade that tractor for a Bass Boat.

Warning Warning ........
Don't operate tractor without Backhoe !!!!
It will tip over !!!
It needs the rear weight of the backhoe.

Rest of story .....
I haven't got around to reconnecting my back hoe.
last weekend I need to cut the grass.
Not a big deal, but my 42" 14hp MTD riding mower need the blades sharpened.
So I did what I've done many times before.
Hooked the FEL up to the front of MTD riding mower,
I'll hang the sucker almost vertical 4 feet in the air and then take the die grinder to the blades.
So as usual I pulled the Iseki around to the MTD (not to square) hooked up a chain,
Stood beside the Iseki and pulled the FEL up control,
FEL was 3-4 feet up when the entire rear end of the Iseki when in the air,
and started tipping sideways, I literally had to hold it by the FEL frame
with both hands to stop it from going over.
Then use my elbow to lower FEL.

Not gona do that again!!!

Dave
