Had 1 hose, 140" split this winter. Replaced and almost at once had 4 more split at bottom on boom. Just age or am I looking at increased pressure ?
Help appreciated.

Had this same hose fail this winter. My machine is 14 years old and has aprox 600 hours, (with about 400 of those digging with the backhoe). Another member had replaced his by running a much shorter hose on the outside of the boom, which is what I have also done. I am not sure where the hose let go, (couldn't tell by looking in the boom), probably won't find out until I separate the dipper from the boom. Bill C

Well, it is right where all 6 hoses turn to go up the boom. All the same age, except for the 1 new, so it is possible that 4 of the 5 remaining
could fail at once, but doesn't seem likely. All I can think of is excess pressure, but why. Also it looks like the cylinder in the boom will have to be removed to get to the hose connections.

Mine is 10 years old, about the same hrs.

Thanks, Hal M

old hoses, they don't last forever. bottom of the boom is where all the bending/ flexing is done

That is the worst place for flex and twist. Will "invest" in new, and we'll see if age was the only issue. How about the cylinder in the boom ?
Remove at both ends ? ugly !

if your talking about removing the hoses you can use crow foot wrench for the hard to reach ones. tie a rope to the hose before you pull it out and you can pull the new one in
