My shoe adjustment bolts are siezed.

They are in the fully up position right now which makes for a cut much lower than I would like. I was hoping to do two high passes around edge of my field to avoid sticks from hydro brush cutting and then drop height back down to maybe second hole for rest of field.

These bolts are a b**** to get at.

Anyone have ideas on making bolts easier to access?

Thanks

What's a good way to bend knife gaurds to Align with the knives better?
Heat and a snipe?

Step one is to put a jack under header and jack it up as high as it will go. This gave me enough room to get a two foot wrench in. Nothing but elbow grease from there.
Will be replacing nut and bolt with half a bolt with hole in end for a presto pin.

Thats an old girl with lots of hard use and not much care (from the picture). Your skids are shot basically for starters and the knife bar (guards) look pretty rough too.

I ran a sickle/roll conditioner for years on abrasive soil and wore my shoes down like that as well. I skinned the shoes with HDPE sheet plastic instead of replacing them. Pulled much easier and the plastic outwears the steel in ground contact.

I like your plastic idea! Might be a next year project. Have any pics of that?
Ya I defiantly agree with you on the use and lack of care. The shoe on the other side is even worse!
I finally got a driveshaft fabbed up for it and tested it out the other night. It still does a great job. Jut about ready to hay!
