I just acquired a NH 450 sickle bar mower and have not even hooked it to my Kubota L3430 yet. I'm wondering if it's feasible to add a lift cylinder to it to adjust to the angle that the bar will raise and/or drop to as I will be cutting along a ditch bank. One ditch will require that I have my tractor down in the ditch to cut the bank that is about 5 feet tall at a step angle. Then I may need to go along the top side and let the bar drop over the edge to clean it up. It seems to me that a lift cylinder would make this so much easier. Am I overthinking this? Also I have never run a sickle mower before so maybe I need to just try it first. All input very much appreciated.
