I bought a 1998 NH 1725 today. It is my 1st tractor !
248 hrs w/ turf tires...Looks new , Oil is Black !
Is there anything I need to know? Tips, problems , etc...

Black oil means nothing. I change my oil on my TC29D and within 5 hours the oil is black. But even so, not knowing, I would change all the fluids on the tractor along with filter changes. You just don't know what the previous owner did. It is a good tractor, have fun with it.

Diesel! Ah! The black coloration is carbon and is totally normal in diesel engines. The harder you use them and the cheaper the fuel and oil and the faster it builds up....

Change the oil and filter at ragular intervals and she'll run forever (well ok its a 1725) but perhaps longer than you'd expect.
