Picked this up today in my travels at a bike shop. It's a full port ball valve made for motorcycles. The next time I have to crimp the fuel line with vice grips to change the fuel filters will be the last time.

Vice grips and a piece of cardboard are still cheaper and just as good in my opinion. A valve is just one more thing that can get caught on a twig and ripped off. I like the KISS method whenever possible.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just bought 2 shut off valves similar to this at tractor supply.
They are for B&S ENGINES but I'm going to put one on my 1986 Dodge D-50 pick up and the other one on my MTD lawn tractor.

I just stick a small bucket under my filter when I change them out... Use what comes out to wipe things down (tools etc) to the the gunk off.

That is because you don't have the experience that is necessary to master this technique. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just stick an appropriately sized centre punch up the pipe like a plug.

How much experence do you have changing the fuel filter on the Dodge D-50 pick ups.

This is a tractor site and the original poster was referring to using this valve on a tractor, which by his profile is probably a BX23, not a Dodge. Now, go stick that valve into your Dodge..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not sure why Kubota does not put fuel line shut off valves on all of their tractors??? The L series has one. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That question can only be answered by the bean counters... My best guess is that they don't see this as a necessary item, just like the high output generator or engine block heater. If they were to add both of these items to the tractors as standard equipment, it wouldn't add $200 to the list price of the tractor. For some unknown reason, Kubota seems to want to nickle and dime you for every little thing. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've changed the fuel filter on my B7800. A shut off valve would be handy, if for nothing else the safety aspect of it.

Guess that the Kubota BX must be the orphan....... or it doesn't need one if you use my method...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
