Any info and/or opinions about the New Holland 3PT mounted snowblowers? Local dealer sells these and a brand labeled (?)Allied. Durablity, reliability, performance and ease of servicing are what I'm looking for vs. inital cost.

NH blowers are made by Loftness out of MN. They are the best in the business. I use to own an 8 foot Loftness and ran it off the back of a 100 HP tractor - loved it - no problems in 8 years - quality and built like a tank.

I cannot speak for the new holland, but when I bought my blower I did look at the allied, the Agro Trend I bought has heavier and seemed to be better built for less money. The Agro Trend is built in Ontario, 3 seasons without any issues. I even tangled with a chunk of firewood doing a favor for a neighber, fortunately it did not go thru the fan, (although a number of toys the kids have left out have... plastic blows thru it just like snow).

Hi,
I was wondering about how much does a rear 3 pt. hitch snowblower cost?

Deepsnow,

Like PLanger said the NH rear snowblowers are made by Loftness. When I went to buy a snowblower this website was great in helping. Ended up buying the Loftness and saved over $1000 dollars (compared to NH, same machine, same color, different decal). The Loftness blower is phenomenal in its construction, will throw anything fed into it, including small branches /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif. There are cheaper snowblowers but, in my opinion, not any that are better built.

This is their website http://www.loftness.com/snowblower/index.htm

Great site for information, unfortunately, the link on each product page to their Prices page is broken. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

However, here's the link to their Prices catalog. Their least expensive, light duty model costs $2,371.00. Their most expensive, heavy duty model costs almost $8,000.

Loftness is not cheap, that's for sure! But they seem very, very well built. NH apparently likes them too, unfortunately the NH decal costs over $1000 (more)! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

There are others out there and maybe I should have bought one of those but I have this awful tendency to try to do something right (and hopefully only once) rather then getting constant financial and time hits for fixes/changes/upgrades. So maybe I get some overkill...

$2100 for a 78" AgroTrend, 2 yrs ago. Setup for Cat 1 or Cat 2 with a 75HP gearbox.

Are we all talking rear 3-pt mount, or are some of these front mount? I currently push and pull snow with my rear blade, but someday hope to move further north in Michigan and would think a rear mounted machine might get pretty inconvenient with frequent use. In lower Michigan, right now I'm only having to clear snow about half-a-dozen to ten times or so a winter. Anyone have a front mounted blower? Does it mount to the front plate below the grill on the NH or just attach to the frame further back or underneath? Also, where do the controls mount? Just wondering, and planning!

djradz,
The prices are for rear 3PT mount snowblowers. My NH dealer quoted a price of over $4000 for a 60 inch front mount. Huge $$ difference vs 3PT. Plus switching back and forth between the FEL & a front mounted snowblower might become a pain (snow & ice covered implement, -20 temps etc.). Even with a +1200 ft long driveway I'm only considering 3PT rear snowblowers. Based on my only experience in snow removal(+18 inches of very heavy lake effect dump last week) moving significant snowfalls with a backblade & FEL will probably move from the fun category to work category way before May arrives.
