I am new to tractors and hydraulics. I have attached a pic of a part (long cylinder with 2 allen screws) that is bascially spewing fluid out of the end when the tractor is running. Is correcting this problem as simple as replacing this part? How do I add hydraulic fluid to the system and check the fluid level?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Thanks for the reply JJ. The tractor is a Ford New Holland 1920. It belongs to a friend. The fluid is leaking out of the lower end of this part. The 2 allen screws are tight. Maybe I will just remove the part and take it to the nearest tractor supply and see what they have to say.

Thanks again!

Inside that valve are spool pistons controled by the hand lever. These spools slide up and down opening and closing the proper ports that control the hydraulic pressure flow. They have a series of o-rings and hard rubber and plastic wipers and seals.over time these seal parts wear out causing high pressure hydraulic fluid to leak by.You should be able to go to local dealer and get a new seal kit to repair this valve.
Best of luck, Scotty
