Couple more questions have come up as I get to learn about my tractor. The teeth on the bucket are loose. Is this normal? Also, the rear tires are filled with ballast, which the manual says shouldn't be with a backhoe on. Does this cause any problems.

If you mean the BH teeth, no it should not be loose. Mine is super tight. As for liquid ballast with BH on, yeah I saw that in the manual too and I REALLY think its one of the bogus things KUBOTA says in manual. NOBODY can explain why, they only can surmise that it might lead to axel failures. To me, I really think this is baloney. Think about it- a TLB tractor is designed to take some digging abuse, liquid ballast actually helps with BH operation IMHO. It lowers the COG, making it less tippy esp. when diggin a hole in edge and on of stablizers is down the bank- it happens due to short boom on the BX's. I can use all the help I can get to prevent a rollover. working smart and safe is best way, but its nearly impossible every time. you know who you are doing this too!!!!

I have filled rears and have nearly 500 hrs now since new. NO problems yet related to filled rears.

I too have a BX24 with filled rear tires. The dealer did it free of charge prior to delivery. Never had a problem with it, can't see what it could hurt.

Matt.

Thanks all...time to replace that impact wrench that was stolen a few years ago, cause ain't no way those bolts are coming loose easy.

***Later this afternoon**** Amazing....just a breaker bar and some WD 40 and the bolts tightened right down. Thanks for the advice.

So far everything you guys has given me has been great info and all has gone pretty well. Another question, if I am not being too annoying.

I went out this afternoon to learn how to run the backhoe a bit. You will all laugh, but I don't have a "dirt pile" to work with, so I went into the back yard and picked mushrooms with the backhoe, trying to learn the controls, how to roll the bucket, dipper and boom. One thing I noticed is that even at 2600 rpm, the boom and dipper would not both operate at the same time. I then thought I would see if the backhoe would lift the back of the tractor up.....it wouldn't. It will dig fine it seems, but I thought it should be powerful enough to lift the back of the tractor, so was surprised that it didn't. Is there technique, perhaps, or is the backhoe on the 24 just not that strong?

The FEL and outriggers will lift the tractor up just fine, so I don't think it is pressure, but figured I would ask.

Raise the loader bucket off the ground and the BH should lift the rear no problem. Boom /dipper/ swing will all operate at the same time if you properly allocate the available fluid flow. The fluid goes to the cylinder that moves easiest. You'll have to feather one valve to get the other cylinder to move. BTW, big tractors work that way too!

Practice, practice, practice! Have fun!

Working with the BH is one of the more funner things...Enjoy!
