Hi all & happy Thanksgiving!
I'm glad I found this site as it really helped me in deciding to get our tractor. Great info here. My wife and I have been talking about getting a tractor ever sense we moved to this property, 8 years ago. What pushed us over the edge this year was finding out last week that the guy plowing our driveway couldn't really do it anymore, and with such short notice we couldn't find anyone else.
Originally we were looking at a BX2200 or possibly a B2410. After looking/talking to our local dealer & discussing our uses we decided the BX2200 was a bit small. We needed a tractor with larger implements and better ground clearance for use in the woods. Also we don't have any grass to cut just woods.
I really liked the B2410 but snowblowers were all sold. Anyhow when I saw the B2710 I was sold & there was a 63" blower that was ordered for someone who decided he didn't want it. So we ended up with a B2710 with LA402 loader, B2772 front mount 63" snowblower and a Heard sander that mounts to the rear 3 pt hitch. We take delivery next week!
We live in Sturbridge, MA and have a log home on 8.5 acres of woodlands. We also have a 325 foot driveway that winds up a VERY steep hill. At the top of the hill it forks with a single lane (80ft) running up another hill to the barn/garage & the other fork openes up to double width with a turn out for parking to the house (150ft). Thats a lot of snow to move :>!
We are also getting the BL4690A next spring. Other uses will be spreading about 6 yards of mulch each spring planting trees, digging planting beds along the sides of the drive & cleaning up fallen trees to be cut up for fire wood.
It's really going to be nice to be self sufficient and not have to relly or be at the mercy of someone else :>!
