Hello,

I've been looking at ZTRs for my new property. It's a 14 acre property, but most of it is woods. So the front yard is about 4 acres. Most of it isn't too hilly, but the backyard where the deck has some slope. Anyways, I've been looking at ZTRs and came across a 2012 SCAG 52" Tigercat with a kawasaki motor at 153 hours. It's going for $6,900. Is this a fair price? I'll be test driving it tomorrow and since it's used it doesn't come with warranty, but I'm hoping to negotiate that.

Any experience with this mower? Good deal?

No experience with that mower, but any of the commercial grade mowers with only 150 hours should just be about a year of mowing activity. I cant tell you about the price but surely someone here has bought one recently and can chime in.

I would look for a 60" deck. Easier to trim with and cover more ground.

I bought a 61" Scag Tiger Cat over the winter with 92 hours for $6k. Mine has the Kohler engine although I don't think that matters much in used mower pricing. It's basically coke/pepsi.

Seems a little high. I'd try to negotiate down to closer to 6k. I bought a 60-inch John Deere with bagger, about 200 hours, for $5500, but I know I got a very good price on that machine.

I have a 61" Tiger Cat with the Kawasaki and I love it so far. I bought it just about a year ago and have right around 60 hours on it. I wanted the 52" but the dealer didnt have one in stock so he gave me a deal on the 61". Im glad I got the 61" but there are places in my yard I wish I had the 52". I believe a new 52" Tiger Cat runs about $8k so the price is ok but I would try to negotiate down some. The biggest problem to me with buying slightly used is not being able to get 0% financing but if you have cash that would be the way to go.
