Looking to buy
Ya I'm new to this. I am in the USMC and in CA but am from TX. Will be going back in about a year. My wife and I just had our first boy on the 1st. The reason I got on here was I want to start a hay farm near Houston tx. But I don't know a lot about the balers and what is the best to use and what not. But I have reading a lot about all of it and now looking for a ok used tractor.

Land is very expensive.... TEXAS has a program for vets.. They will lend $80K for land with 5% down. I used that when I got my place. I had to go 100 miles north to get a decent price. I still paid about $3500 per acre.

Do not plan in making any money with a hay field Even with a larger track.

With the cost of land, equipment, fertilizer, etc.. It just does not add up.

Ya I have thought about that too but my wife and I know a lot of ppl that all they do is grow hay. We're going to have a horse barn too. And where at in TX are you. I'm prob going to use the young farmers loan to get the land and the va home loan to get the house cuz land with a house cost way to much.

I live in Houston and my small farm is in Madisonville. I had to go that far to get reasonable prices land.
