Thanks to all the great advice i've received here on the forums, I just signed on the dotted line for a new B2920 with fel, mmm, 50" howard tiller and 60" box blade. Still cant decide on turfs or r-4's. Will be doing lots of grass cutting.

Grass will be better off with turf tires. Enjoy you new tractor!

As everyone says Truf may be good on grass but as all around jobs R4 might be your bet, because if you make this tractor good for grass means you are killing the whole purpose of your nice tractor. I cut my grass with bar tires and had no problem when it is not wet. I wont even cut the grass with a Lawn Mower when it is wet.

R4s will be good when you want to do dirt work and snow removal.

This is based on what I have seen with my neighbour do for last five years. I bought tractor with bar tires only after seeing him with good clean yard.

Smokey, you made a ton of sense to me. I do want a quality grass cut but don't want to greatly diminish the purpose of the 20k tractor with my tire selection.

Will light loader work and light tilling be greatly reduced with the turf tires?

Really need everyones input. I need to make a tire selection asap.

I chose turf tires because I will do mostly mowing and have to cross my lawn to do most of the loader work that I plan on. Have used a few neighbors tractors and the tires always leave impressions in my case. I don't have the tractor yet so I can't say how they will affect the loader yet, but I don't see any problems. Also felt if I need more traction for snow I could use chains.
By the way, was the 60" box blade recommen by the dealer? I have been reading that a 48" should be used on the B2920

see with the turf tires your tractor will still function with less traction and you know you want traction when you really want otherwise wheels are spinning. Another option is to have set of turfs and R4, only thing I heard from the people on the forum, if your tires are filled they are heavy and you can get tired of swapping.

Yes you are correct, wait for more senior members to chime in

The 60" box was my call, Jim. I wanted a box wider than the tractor to cover up all tracts entirely. I thought a 4 foot brush hog was the max rec. for the tractor but didn't hear about the box blade.

We're all getting a little older here-turf's ride better,good in snow,and easy footprint-don't count them out.Good Luck!
