Hi, I'm from Montreal Quebec and I want to know the price for a B3030 HSD with FEL 403, BH75 and lawn mower RC7230B with two sets of tires (1 set turf and 1 set industrial)

I checked the price in Quebec and is very expensive so if the price is good in New-York, it will be more interesting for me to take it in US.

Also, I want to know if there can be problems with the customs.

If you know the price with taxe, please send me some information /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thank you! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Would you guys run into problems bringing a new machine across the border? Maybe some of your higher cost is import duties applied by the government.

Hi All,

Duty : none
Taxes : GST&PST ( or HST ) and you pay customs.

Should be able to avoid state tax by having direct ship out but depends on the state.

Well wasn't going to chime in on other paper work until I have had the final word from the Canadian EPA ( CEPA ) which I am expecting any day now.
But, here is how I understand it works.

Model year 2006, engine date 2006 then must go through a whole bunch of EPA stuff ( Section 19 of the CEPA regs ). Really alot of work.

Model year 2006 or earlier, engine date prior to 2006, then no problem re no EPA issues.
But, you have a heck of alot of paper to work at and need NAFTA document to present to Customs. Will know exactly what other paper work shortly.

And, I have understood from other posters, that Kubota does not want to honour warranties for tractors purchased o\s of Canada. Considered almost " grey market ".
Kubota Canada and Kubota U.S.A are separate entities under the Kubota umbrella ( from what I have heard ) but maybe a dealer can pop in here.

As well, I have understood that dealers in the U.S. are not supposed to ship to Canada. I think there is more to that story as well. Maybe a dealer can pop in here also.

So, importing a brand new Kubota tractor can be a litte problematic but depends on engine date AND dealer cooperation. And you may have to fight with Kubota Canada to get warranty service.

As I said, I am awaiting word from the CEPA as to what paper I need to bring tractors into Canada and should know soon.

Good luck

Tom

Hi,

Ok, heard back from CEPA today. Bottom line is as I stated before : Regs are for Compression Ignition Engines. Section 19 of the CEPA.

So: 2006 Model year tractor with engine date of 2006 then you have a lot of work to do. Must supply U.S EPA certificate, must prove same product with same motor sold in Canada and the U.S. , must be able to supply back up data from manufacturer ( ie-- how tested, what tested, results, and so on ) to prove meets, if they ask for it. Most manufacturers a little reluctant to supply to any old John Doe who asks.

2006 model with pre 2006 engine, not a problem. No emissions issues to deal with and no real paper work except the information that is required on a commercial invoice or it's equivalent. Also need NAFTA documents to where made, etc and that is to get duty free status.

Still paper but not as much. Might be best to talk to a Customs Broker or deal through one when you do it but will be a cost attached.

Personal use, you pay PST&GST ( or HST ), unless you have a tax exempt #, to Customs when you cross so has to be paid up front and is based on U.S $ converted to Canadian $ according to their rates which may not be the best rates available. You may get a break by being able to deduct some or all of the shipping charges but you would have to talk to broker about it.

Any 2005 model with 2005, or before, engine date then no problem except as with the 2006 and 2005 engine and that is just paper work.

So, if you are going to bring in from the U.S.A, then just watch engine dates ( must be pre 2006 ), be ready for a little bit of paper work and watch out re warranties as unknown if Kubota Canada would honor warranty.

I needed this information for myself so I am glad to share it.

Good luck and have a good one.

I've been going through this same exercise exactly and I can tell you that there are some savings to be had in light of the strength of the current Canadian dollar. That said, it is a bit of a hassle to get the tractors here but still worth it in the end I'd say. For what you're looking for, I'd say you'd be looking at about $4K worth of savings. Now, with that there is a fair bit of work to get the tractor here as 777777 described but in the end I think it's worth it.

I've spoken to Canadian Border services and they did not seem to have a problem with it as it's becoming much more common of late given the currency situation. They did state that there is a $200 fee to be paid to the registrar of imported vehicles. They did not state anything about the model year of the engine to me... I'm going to have to look into this a bit further.

Good Luck.

Sounds funny, a several years ago I was buying up north to bring into the states to save money (not on a Kubota though). I've bought several 4 wheelers, a snow machine, and a Honda 4 stroke outboard and saved lots of money. Most dealers would deliver to the border to avoid any Canadian taxes. Never had any problems crossing the border in either direction.

I've had service work done down here and up there (I'm in northern Vermont) without any problems no matter where it was purchased. If you find a dealer close to the border that you like you can always bring it back to him for work.

A neighbor had family that lived up in three rivers that would come down all the time. When they would buy something new down here they would use it for a few days (for something like a tractor they would play in the mud and not wash it) and pass it off as used when crossing the border. Think they would make a fake bill of sale or something, never had a reason to ask. I'm not suggesting you try anything like that though.

Problem with this is Canadian Border Services would never let a dirty tractor cross the border now - In fact, my customs broker informed me that the machine should be steam cleaned before bringing it across. This might be a bit much but it's true that they'll refuse it if it looks like it's just come out of the field. Too much risk of scary American germs

Evening all,

No big deal to bring from U.S to Canada either used or new.

New...... Kubota will NOT honour the warranty if bought in U.S for another country and no way you can cart back\forth for warranty repairs. Too much aggravation at both sides of the Border.

Others ......... Think JDCan recently had a 2520 sent over with no problems and quick service. He had checked with Deere and no problems with warranties.
Someone else brought a Massey over and no warranty issues and even got Massey Finacing.

Used ........... yes, they are picky about dirty tractors and any Customs Broker will tell you that you gotta have a wash ticket. Not steam cleaning but a really good wash as Agriculture may be all over it when it comes across looking for the pesky American dirt.

So, depends on what you are looking for as you can save a bundle.

Have a great evening all.

Later
