Took a ride into the concrete jungle yesterday, interesting place.

Wanted to share a few pics, I have a cheapo camera so only a couple of the many I took came out decent.

Skyline is looking south from the "top of the Rock" outdoor observation deck, 70 floors in ~30 seconds in elevator. That's the Empire state bldg with Brooklyn bridge behind it and hudson river to the right.
Top Of The Rock

Brooklyn bridge from Brooklyn.

And to keep it related, the 1 HP transport we took a short ride on, Man I don't know how those horses keep there cool in that chaos. But I'll tell you they can keep their lane better than some of the auto drivers. no special lanes for the carriages they have full travel rights just like the cars.

It's a great place to visit but I wouldn't live there. 4 or 5 days is all I can take.

Nice shots. Did you use a tripod for that last one?

JB,

I was in the city too yesterday went in to see the Broadway play 39 Steps. Times square was alive with people both in the afternoon and about 5:30 PM when we got out. The lights were just amazing in Times Square.

BUT always nice to come back home to my 2 acres, just a 1.5 hour ride away.:D

I used to go there often enough when I used to drive for a living. I've always been amazed by how beautiful that place is at night versus what an armpit it is in the daylight.

No just rested the camera whenever possible, the night shots are tough trying to get the lights with slow shutter speed, most pics are scrap.

Wow we might of crossed paths, I got there right at dusk, which was our plan, we were always leaving when the lights were coming on, so we wanted to see the city at night. We didn't leave until just about midnight.

Yup, LOL It's a little gritty, definitely want to take a hot shower when you get home. My wife was reaching for the hand sanitizer at every corner!

They are doing alot to clean up the tourist areas, I was amazed at how cool Central Park was, ~850 acres, truly a natural oasis in a metropolis (been there on previous trips). Alot of important history in that city.
I drove my own car (Grand Cherokee) right into the city, some people are intimidated by driving there but I don't have a problem once in, fighting for position with the taxi drivers can get interesting. Came home last year with the wife's grand caravan and had yellow paint in 2-3 spots, no dents just scuffs, that's how tight it can get especially if you don't back down.
The approach routes can be unnerving, 3 narrow lane curvy highways going in all directions (fast as possible) with no break down lane for miles
