Actually it was the Germans who had the corner gun in WWII. They actually had one at the Ordnance museum in Aberdeen MD. That museum is presently moving to Virginia.

I thought the Russians had one as well, they needed it for sure.
There was also a domestic version for police use experimented with.

I notice the German one does not look like it is a full 90 degree bend,
the one in my pic is, notice the cut in the barrel, to prevent a round from lodging in the barrel?

After a quick search of the Internet I cannot find any reference to this Thompson device. Did it go by any particular name? Is there a manufacturer on it? I am not questioning its' authenticity I am only interested in knowing more about it.

I could not find any hard evidence either, the guy told me it was very rare. I did find some talk of the tank application, and the domestic version.

I'm only going by what this guy told me, so I can't be 100% sure of anything. Maybe a prototype that never went into production?
Like I said it definitely appears to be military and gun related.

But it's heavy!

I am kinda late in asking this, but I cannot help but wonder how you could aim such a device....?? Just point it, spray bullets, and hope one hits????

The ones used in street fighting often had a mirror adapted, at least to get you close. Probably not that practical, but could come in handy to help suppress fire from the other side, get them to keep their heads down while getting your guys across the street safer.

I would not want that to be the only rifle at my disposal though, having to engage the enemy under most situations.

Not sure about the movie. Maybe "Enemy at the Gate"? But that wasn't about her specifically.

On a side note, it was not till the last couple years that I realized how bad the war(WWII) was for the Russians/Soviet Union. I had read the books on Gny Hathcock, and did some general search on snipers. My last history class was 30 years ago; I never learned anything about the war in Russia... It is staggering the losses, of people, and cities razed...

She was incredible, here's more in depth storey on her.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko - The Lady Sniper - YouTube

Wasn't there a modern Hollywood movie about her?

Yup, you are right it was that movie I was thinking about, because there was a female in it.

The Russians by far lost more people in WW2 than probably all other nations combined.
They can't even agree on the number but it is in the millions and millions, some starved by Stalin to feed the war effort, we owe them a huge dbt for the sacrifices they made, saved alot of our soldiers lives.

Yeah, a lot of people have nothing good to say about the Russians but in truth it's highly likely we owe them our freedom. If ****** didn't have to fight on two fronts and devote such a huge amount of resources battling Russia, he might very well have won the war.
