So i just bought a used tractor with 1188 hrs on it from a second owner. Oil looks clean, fan belt seems loose. I'd love to keep this tractor running for a long time. What are some recommendations for what I should preemptively service on this tractor? Hydrolic fluid? Filters? What can you think of?

Do you know the history of the tractor maintenance? If not check all fluids. If the hydraulic fluid looks clean I would leave it. I would change the engine oil and filter along with the fuel filter. Check all belts, hoses, and fasteners. Air filter can probably be blown out. Look for drips and weeping of any fluids. Check tires for plugs and if rears are loaded. Take your time and enjoy the tasks. Maintenance is cheap insurance. Pictures are needed. Welcome.

Will do. Thanks.
I'll get the ducks in line and go through it this weekend. I look forward to learning the machine.

To the TBN forum Kicker. Glad that you joined.

As everyone else said, check, check, check. If in doubt, change it or replace it. Nothing more frustrating than having a problem while working. Also, a few bucks spent now may save thousands later.

If the L3130 is HST or GST transmission it is best to stick with Super UDT for the best performance. Check front axle for proper oil level, I am using 90W gear with a little Lucas oil thickener to put off the bevel case seal changes, my L3130 just turned 1000 hours but have done lots of heavy loader work. Clean screen in front of radiator check fuel filters and engine oil.

Have had very little problems with the L3130, broke things but is powered just right so you run out of power before you break expensive things.

You bought a heavy duty tractor. Wise to service it as the others suggested. Enjoy that machine. By the way, we like pictures.

Does yours have the LA723 loader?

It's been a month. Curious to learn if the OP performed any service or not?

Completely agree a complete service is recommended when buying used, unless good proof it has been done recently.

For the record I use gear lube in the front axle, Super UDT2 and synthetic 5W-40 in the engine.

If you're not use to servicing tractors, don't be surprised how much a complete fluid and filter change will cost.

I'd also consider the use of diesel biocide to ensure the fuel system doesn't have any bacteria growing in it. When cleaning the fuel filter it will look like slime.
