Bought a used 60" blade for my kubota

Should I drain the oil from the cylinder and lines before attaching to my tractor so as not to contaminate my oil supply?

Or am I being ridiculous?

It surely can't hurt anything and doing the draining would give you piece of mind.
Flushing would give you more piece of mind, BTW.

I probably wouldn't, but it won't hurt. If you're that paranoid, then all it will cost you is a couple gallons of fluid.

Some folks do use the really cheap stuff.

Drained most of fluid now...

Removed 90 degree elbows and quick couplers do not fit hose.

Was hoping to just reconnect but will need some type of thread adapter to make work

It comes off of a bx25 so the fluid should be compatible right?

Just never know what the other guy used so I would drain it so Im sure it will be clean and compatible. Plus if he had a problem it could be contaminated and you don't want that in your system.

I retracted the cylinder manually and drained the oil.

Any need to disconnect the lines from the cylinder and blow out with air? Probably only 1-2 cups of fluid left

Do you have to - nope. If you are **** (like me) I would just yank the fitting and drain it out to be on the safe side. i am always concerned there could be water or "crap" in the line that I don't want in my hydro system. I figure the tractor holds 11+ gallons of fluid and the cylinder uses maybe 1/2 gallon - cheap to change it and not risk my 11 gallons and filters, etc....

1/2 hrs work to potentially save thousands of $$ and hours of down time
