Yeah, I needed a wide base to support the gooseneck once the ball goes up inside and I had some 6x6 square plates but couldn't locate them. (I must have put them somewhere I wouldn't forget). But I did forget so I used the next best thing I had and it was an old Chevy timing chain gear I found in a bottom drawer of my tool box. It serves the purpose.
I added the hooks to chain down my tractor on the trailer. Had no other place to attach a chain and didn't want to wrap it around the axle.
