Like when they attacked and destroyed federal buildings in Portland? Police stations? Most were NOT prosecuted, hell, IF they were even arrested lefty politicians were quick to bail them out. Strangely, about 450 American citizens are being held without bail, and some without charges. By definition BLM IS a terrorist organization.
I don’t support BLM’s terrorist acts. There are many that were prosecuted by local governments. Portland? Well what can you say? But once again: deflection. Because one terrorist group does something doesn’t mean it’s ok for another. And one is simply most serious because they attacked our nation’s capital. A little more serious than burning a Wendy’s restaurant.

I think that is the point. Both were politically motivated violence and federal crimes. The one that got prosecuted was the one with the lesser damage. Most of us believe both deserve punishment.

Calling the Jan. 6th thing an insurrection is laughable. It would be like calling Barney Fife an effective police officer. That doesn't make what they did a good thing. Frankly, I think the abuse of power by some in Congress prior and during the Trump administration was much closer to insurrection. It was definitely criminal abuse of power. If a Republican Congress had done the same thing to a Democrat President, the press would have been all over it. I can see it and I'm not a Trump guy.
I don’t really care what the press says or doesn’t say. I watched a violent mob attack our nation’s capital and disrupt congressional proceedings. I don’t care which party did it (I’m Independent and despise both). Wrong and should be prosecuted. I don’t care what you call it.

Just because you're bad at a crime doesn't make it not a crime.

Guys, you are arguing both sides of the fence. I want both to be prosecuted. The Jan 6th guys are getting prosecuted because of their politics. Not just their crimes. Both involved federal crimes attacking government buildings. One was considerably more violent than the other. The less violent crime was the one prosecuted. Both should be prosecuted for what they did. It is completely unequal treatment and is morally and legally wrong. Again, I am not supporting what either side did, I am pointing out the illegal hypocrisy of our government in handling the incidents involved.

Except for the BLM crimes in Portland, most of their arson and looting didn’t involve federal property and therefore are state and local jurisdiction for prosecution. And I do believe the federal court in Portland did prosecute some of the vandal leaders.

really?
Thanksgiving is the time when my local dealers start pushing deals & specials.
Not around here they don't. I haven't been around this market long enough to know if this is a regional thing or a national thing but it sounds like it might be an individual dealer things based on what you and Newbury are saying.

There would be more concensus on financial and economic issues if most people actually had a functional education in these subjects. Unlike other subjects like math where the basic principles are first taught in elementary school progressively leading to more complex principles, in my state of Tennessee, personal finance appears to be a once and done course. In my opinion, the textbook offerings written by academics show a marked lack of practicality in real life application. Students lose interest because they can't see how studying finance and economics would help them personally when they are mired in a truck load of academic BS most likely written by someone who never actually worked in finance in real life. If students were actually taught how finance and economic issues affect them in real life in real ways, it would do a great deal to restore agreement on core issues. What we have now is a free for all anything goes mentality that can't work in the long term and just leads to division and fighting instead of just dealing with the problem.
It's almost as if they intentionally don't want us to learn how this stuff works so we will be the next generation of sheep going to the slaughter.

For all the opposing comments here about Jerome Powell, I have to disagree. I think the guy is doing what's right. Where the criticism should be directed is at the financial media for being irresponsible and putting out false information to sucker retail investors to prop up a declining market and finance industry.

Why rely on schools to teach this don't parents have a responsibility in this also?

The best financial advise I ever got was only borrow money on something to live in or something that is going to make you money!

Many of those BLM protesters who committed crimes were indeed prosecuted in state courts. The J6 criminals are prosecuted in federal courts. Different jurisdictions. Did you expect BLM vandals and arsonists to be prosecuted in federal court for committing state level crimes? And both groups committed criminal acts and should be prosecuted. One doesn’t justify the other. That sort of argument is called deflection.
