Well if you're bringing inflation and devaluing of the dollar into it, you could say that a lot of investments.
At least that don't apply to real estate, east not yet it don't, but I have a feeling it will in the not so near future.

Something most people overlook is dealer overhead in their markups.

In my case, the cash and interest incentives are from the manufacturer, not the local dealership.

Negotiation is really about the dealer 'markup' over 'true invoice cost'.

Personally, I am willing to pay a bit more for dealers or salesman that take good care of me and have the resources to support me. 3 Massey dealers were nice enough but, could not talk about a 5700S/5S beyond what I could read off the brochure. The dealer I am working with actually has this tractor in stock and can service it and I won't be the only one at the dealership using the service department to fix it!
Messicks comes bubbling to the top when I read your comment. Their new, glitzy main store must carry a huge cost in overhead that they pass on to their customers. My local dealer, his place is paid for and not fancy so his built in overhead is low. Maybe that is why he sells a ton of Kubota's, that and his stellar reputation. Seems as though they are always busy with new units and the service department is as well. I'm sure they do quite well on service in as much as I know personally, the head mechanic as well as the owner. Not just servicing Kubota's either. All the local ag folks have their equipment worked on there. I see green and red as well as orange in the shop constantly and their head mechanic is a whiz with axial flow combines as well. Hard to find someone like that around here. Their back lot always has a couple combines waiting for work, all colors too.

Retire? Who wants to do that?

The high "tractor" inflation rate is moving my tractor replacements and upgrades forward a lot because the likelihood of me out-earning the rate of tractor price inflation is really low. I also get the benefit of using a 'better' tractor sooner.
Astute observation.
