Tractor
Bobcat CT2040
A quote for a new tractor purchase included the following additional charges. I don't remember paying these before. Are they appropriate or is the dealer taking advantage of a manufacturer's promotion?

Dealer P.D.I. - $350
Freight Charges - $650
Other Charges: Material and Logistics - $281

I was a motorcycle dealer. Similar game....
Most retailers price their operating expenses invisibly into their product price while others break them out as expenses that they paid to get the machine into their shop and ready to sell.
It's just book-keeping.

And of course some double dip by doing both. I once worked for a dealer who was also an importer and western states distributor who milked the system for every penny and still sold reasonably.

So answering, "..if he is taking advantage", depends on how your dealer set up his business. The only way I know to figure this out is to compare one dealer's "out the door" price to other dealers.

I don't remember paying these before.

At present tractor inventories are low.
Demand seems to be pretty fair.
We are reading here of many dealers/retail customers waiting four months for factory order fulfillment.
Price is how tractors in inventory are rationed.

Expand your dealer visits.

The quoted price from a new Bobcat dealer was straight MSRP with the above additional charges not including tax. My preference is for a John Deere, probably a 3033R new or used but I may make an offer for the Bobcat. The CT2040 seems to be a decent tractor. I'm not in a hurry so I'll spend more time settling on a purchase.

The Deere 3033R is a little heavier than the Bobcat CT2040.

TractorData.com says the Deere 3033R is produced in Augusta, Georgia.

I suggest shopping incentives online. Some of the lighter Bobcats are selling with "free" Loaders during May 2021. Maybe the CT2040 is included.

Good luck in your research and purchase.

The CT2040 is included for the free loader incentive but it seems the dealer is taking some of it back with the added charges. I suspect the 3033R is a better tractor and may be better off with it over the CT2040 even if purchasing used. I would be more motivated with the Bobcat if the dealer wasn't stacking the deck.

How close is your nearest Kioti tractor dealer for another quote?

The Bobcat tractors are Kiotis in white paint with Bobcat decals.

As you are aware, compact tractors are generally long term purchases.

If you believe the Deere 3033R is superior quality stop perseverating about the Deere price. You should expect to pay a higher price for superior quality. Buy the Deere 3033R.

I think I paid freight on my JD 2025r but no other fees except taxes. One way or another the dealer has to get paid to setup the tractor, which some come with quite a bit of assembled required. When I got my JD there were a lot of incentives, such as a rebate for getting two implements. Not sure if any incentives are still there or not.
