- Massey Ferguson 1736, John Deere 455, John Deere L135
I finally got sick of working ON my tractor instead of working WITH it and traded the old IHC 454 on a new Massey Ferguson 1736 with a FEL. I also have a backhoe ordered for it as well...another of those bucket list items for me.
My dealer dropped the tractor off at my place on Friday, so I could play with it a bit over the weekend. He picked it back up on Saturday afternoon, so they can fill the rear tires and do the prep work. They had just gotten it in, and it had not been through the prep they normally do. As it turned out I had no downpressure with the loader, which sucked. The good news was some nimrod at the factory hadn't gotten one of the quick connects pushed all the way in, so it was essentially a single action cylinder! Easy "fix"!
I'll try to post my reviews of the tractor and the backhoe when it comes. I think I'm going to like it once I figure out where everything is. The joystick loader control is going to be nice. I'm used to two levers, so doing two functions at once will be a pleasant change. This is also the first tractor I've had with MFWD. My place is in the Driftless Region of Iowa, which means from the lower area to the top field is over 100' difference in elevation...in less than 1/4 mile! Steep is a mild adjective for it! Being able to add the front assist will definitely be a plus.
I only got to mess with it for about an hour, so I can't really say much yet. I know the "without pics, it didn't happen" rule, so here is the only one I have so far. I'll add some as time allows.
