New toys to build attachments with!

I recently picked up a Befco grading scrapper. I wanted the ripping shanks and I didn't see them on your land plane. It also goes from 0 to 1 1/2" below the side rails. I've already had to modify it so I can raise the blades up about 1/4" to 3/8" above the rails.

The reason is that once I've broken up the hard gravel the rails sink down into the dirt and even if flush it pulls too much gravel with it. On the last pass all the pot holes and washboards are gone and I'm just trying to do a light fine smoothing. Maybe without the rippers this isn't a problem but the rippers work very well for pulling up rock just below the surface that the frost is pushing to the surface.

So my advice would be to make it adjustable from -1/2" to +1" below the side rails. Secondly if you could design a system to adjust the height without tools or at least with an easy way to adjust the height, say with threaded rod would also make your LP a step beyond what's currently on the market.

Al,
If you look at my larger landplane pictures on the previous page you will see that I used the wide flange beams for skids. This helps keep the plane skids from digging in too much. You might consider adding wider wear strips to your existing plane to solve your problem.
