I'm not sure if there's any interest in this car but I thought I'd post a picture anyways. It's a '73 Triumph Stag. It came equipped with a V8 over head cam motor that was a nightmare to keep running. Lots of overheating issues and blown head gaskets. This car has a Triumph TR6 straight six in it instead which was perfect for me from a reliability standpoint. Best of all it's a four seater which will be much more practical than the '65 Vette I sold a while back.

Jeff thats great looking ride, I worked with another operator that had one that had several engine problems. he and his cousin took theV8 out and put in a Mazda rotary engine. That car could really fly. Thers a steep hill/small mountain by the job site with a chip sealed road andd it was always a goosit to watch him and another guy in that rotary powered car and a Camaro racing up the steep grade. THe Triumph was alwas a little faster.

Nice looking car, Jeff. My first car was a 1961 TR3. Talk about hard to keep running? Then when I was a senior in high school, I bought a new 1969 Triumph GT6+. Cool looking cars - still wish I had one.

The Stag was a nice car...bit expensive for it's performance back then. Unfortunately, it never sold real strong when it came out...
Pretty car..watch out for the tin worm though.... And, of course, Lucas electrical system...Lucas, the Prince of Darkness!

ROY LOL, I had a TR6 in my youth. Looking back I remember it with fond memories. Back then I loved the car, but not the effort to keep everything working.

Wow.

I bought a 68 TR4A IRS new in early 69. It was a ton of fun.

The fastest one around my group had a small block Ford with a four speed out of a Mustang. He lost forty pounds or so going from the Triumph tractor four cylinder to a hypo V8.

I imagine that Stag with a new Ford V8 would get better mileage, be more dependable, and fly without wings. (not a Ford fan but their little V8 is longer and thinner than the comparable Chevy. Fits better in the Triumph. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

A friend of mine has a Stag that has been in the family since new and still has the original V8. He tells me that there is a conversion kit available to drop in a Ford V8 and I have seen a few cars for sale with it done. Problem is that the rear end wasn't really even strong enough to handle the Triumph V8 much less the Ford. I also have this sick little streak in me that wants to eventually get a hold of an original motor and bring it back to the original British headache it was when new. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
