I recently bought 7 acres of berry vines and tall grass. I'm trying to determine which is the best tractor for my needs. I want to clean up the property and maybe do some small gardening/livestock raising. I'm limited to around 5 to 6000 dollars.

I live in washington and the land is sloped.

Welcome to TBN.

That would buy a nice Massey Ferguson 135 or Ford 861 and some equipment. Get one with quick spread wheels so you can widen them a few inches at the time until you get to the happy point that makes you feel safe on the slopes.

This will get you get a tractor heavy enough to do some work of proven quality and part sources everywhere with only appreciation of price expected.

Drive you tractor around a lot doing NOTHING to get a feel for one. They can cause death in a heartbeat. There is NO reason to fear them unless you do not respect them. Like others here I have been driving tractors for over 50 years yet I find myself getting into tight spots all of the time.

Can you burn the tall grasp to see what kind of iron, rock or other things is waiting to cause damage to your future tractor?

If the land is sloped you will probably want 4WD. Shop the want ads for used. Are the berry vines blackberry? You'll want to save some of those! If you are going to do clean up, a loader will be of great assistance. Your dollar ceiling will be the limiting factor. Hard to nail down a specific tractor with those factors.
