international tde7
Hello, Gary Nebgen from Fredericksburg, Tx. I just purchased a 1974 International TD7E dozer. I have purchased all the manuals for it. I will use it for small jobs, clearing cedar and fence lines, maybe some road work. It runs great, no smoke and has plenty of power. I was around dozers in my youth, grew up on a farm and ranch, and know the basics of how they operate. All the hydraulics are good and the hoses as well. My only concern is the previous owner "shimmed" the tensioners for the idlers and I do not know if I am comfortable with that arrangement. The slack in the tracks is within the 2" range and it performs well. After researching it appears I would have to replace the cylinders or maybe the springs. I have located the previous owner and will find out why and how long it has been that way. The UC does not show excessive wear, sprockets, rollers, idlers and idler are good. Machine has 4000 hours. Would anyone familiar with this give me some guidance? Additional shims came with the tractor for future adjustment. Thanks.
