Tractor
Hinomoto1084
Hi all you compact tractor owners. I have been thinking of buying a compact tractor for a while now and finally decided to pull the trigger. It needs work and hopefully with the help of the people of this forum, I will be able to get the answers I will surely need as I try to get this thing back into the shape it once was. It's definitely rough around the edges and I know it will take some time to fix everything that needs fixing. I just hope I have the necessary knowledge to fix most of it without having to spend mega bucks to get it done. My wife already thinks I'm nuts for buying this thing so I'm hoping I can prove her wrong.

That's actually the Massey Ferguson model number for this tractor. The Hinomoto number is 1084. It's kind of confusing going back and forth as from what I understand, Hinomoto made tractors for Massey Ferguson for a while. At least that's what I remember reading here on the net. And I think it's got a Toyosha motor in it.

Yes, you are right. It does have a Toyosha motor since they manufactured that tractor for MF. Yes, it sounds like you are going to need all the luck and help you can get. Sorry about the wheeler.

I've been doing some thinking about this whole matter and am now wondering if I did the right thing by buying this thing. I got to looking for the other serial numbers on this tractor and someone has gone to great lengths to hide the ID numbers on it. The one on the rear is missing and the one on the engine has the 5th number peened so that it is illegible. I called the sheriff department and had a sheriff come out and look at it as I became suspicious about all the missing serial numbers. The decals have even been peeled off. He asked me a bunch of questions and even though I don't think the former owner had anything to do with removing those numbers, I'm wondering if he knew it was stolen or that it might have been stolen at one time. The sheriff also told me it is illegal to sell anything in Montana without a serial number. So unless I could find someone who just didn't give a hoot about serial numbers, then I'm stuck with this thing for the rest of my life. What would you do?
