new to the board

Hi everyone,
Have been surfing this site and I finally registered. I am a new proud owner of a L3130HST. I rec. it last Thursday. This is the first tractor I have owned. With it I got a 5' International brush cutter and a 5' back blade. I have a small 10 acre farm so I need it to take care of the pastuer and our long 300 yard gravel drive.
I worked her all weekend ( when it wasnt pooring the rain).
Mowed the fields. The grass was as tall as the hood of the tractor. Had a great time and she had no problems with the steep grades. I went to bed with a smile and woke up with a smile. The tractor is powerfull,quiet,smooth and easy to run. It is the best money I have ever spent.
But tonight I was taught my first lesson. DO NOT FORGET to put the folding ROPS down before going into the machine shed. Pulled head in and wamo the front wheel were up in ther air. I coud have just kicked myself. I knew I was to tall. Put it in the shed 10 times in the last few days. So from now on I will always back in so my head will at least be looking out . Scartched the ROPS and aboout tore down the shed!!!!! I hope to tell you more later

Heck your lucky I first tore the front of my shed off from the inside with the front end loader I was trying to hitch up the hog to the rear inside the shed. Well a buddy, who's a carpenter got a real side splitter on that one. Then I did just what you did a week later with the TC33D rops up pulling into the shed ( I think he called me a horses a$$ that time). So I feel for ya brother don't be too hard on yourself , heck if thats the only dang thing ya do from now on yer lucky. LMAO Mark /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrats on your new purchase, if I could justify the need I the 3130 would be number one on my list, it is truly an awsome machine. Don't feel bad about the ROPs I did the same thing pulling mine into the garage the wife gave me one of those looks /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif but other than a few minor scratches no damage done.

If ya haven't used it yet... bring back your 5' rear blade for at least a minimum 6' or even a 7'... (that 5' is way too small for your unit)

I'd go with a 7' rear blade as well the 5' is too small. I have a 6' and should have traded but it will work. If you ever get a box blade go with 6'. My 65" works good but that extra capacity could be used.

I decided to go with the 5' blade because I can turn the blade around without any trouble. Dealer said the 6' they sold will hit tires bfore you make it around. Plus the 5' is perfect for scraping the horse ner from the shelters I have on the barn and machine shed. The blade can be loosened to extend to one side and it can be angled at a steep degree. Worked great.
Thanks for being gentle with my error with the ROPS. I grew up on a farm and am not ignorent but I sure did turn red in the face when I hit the shed. My wife and I have a Buick Rendevous and it has a sonar device to let you know if you are about to back into something. Wounder how that would work on the ROPS. As a person operats a tractor you are watching so many things and with my hills I have to be carefull. Pucker factor has a low tolerence with me. An audible alert for the ROPS sure would be neet.

Hi, and welcome to TBN. I've got to admit, those new L30 series tractors are sweet machines. Congratulations and Good Luck.

I would also have to echo the concerns regarding the 5' blade decision. I find it interesting that a 6' blade couldn't be rotated 360 degrees on your tractor. I've got a Woods HBL-72-2 6' blade on my B2910 and I can rotate it completely around with decent clearance. I know the tires are larger on the L series, but I would assume that you should be able to do the same. (Funny...I actually would have preferred a 5' blade for my small property, but I liked the offset feature and extra weight of the heavier duty series, and their smallest blade is 72".)

Does the angled 5' blade cover the tire tracks? Of course, if you need a 5' width to maneuver into tight spaces, I guess that's your decision maker. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The 6' Woods blade I have can be rotated 360 without hitting the tires as well.
