Kubota B3300SU
Hi, new to TBN. Bought a new Kubota B3300SU w/ LA504 loader, Landpride RTR 1258 tiller. I opened up small acreage land w/ Middle Buster plow before tilling. Spokane Valley soil is ancient riverbed. Must say, we have the rockiest soil I have ever seen. Thank goodness for the clutch system on the tiller, or tines would have been snapping like popcorn. So far no complaints about tractor or attachments, but then it now has only 8.6 hours on it, so it's a little early to be complaining, but I can say there is something peaceful and relaxing about working the soil, while sitting!

Thanks creekbend! I hope to get some valuable information from members as the last time I was on a tractor, or any farm equipment, I was 14. Things have changed dramatically in 49 years! I just retired and decided to kill and till up some Kentucky Bluegrass and go to farming! Wife thinks I've spun a bearing and thrown a rod at 63, but I've had this in mind since we bought the place in 1982. Like I said in my introduction, we have some of the rockiest soil I have ever seen, but living right next to the Spokane River this didn't surprise me. Plowing the one acre I plan to cultivate brought up 6 boulders the Kubota and LA504 loader couldn't budge, but it wasn't the B3300SU's fault, it was the size of the monster rocks. It took a week of chain hoists, come-alongs, sweat and muscle to finally get them up, out and hauled away. After two tillings, I drug my rock rake thru and hauled away about 12 tons of rock over 2", soil tested and brought in 25 yards of cow manure and spread 600 lbs of Elemental Sulphur to lower Ph to around 5. Now I'm waiting for my free leaf delivery to add lots of mulch and keep the soil loosened up for the first crop of Yukon Gold spuds I plan to donate to our local food bank. While I wait for the leaves, I'm in the shop building a bedder, with sweeps. I might add that the design is based from ideas I've seen on TBN! Farming isn't an occupation, it's an adventure trip with Mother Nature!

So, creekbend what's your story? I see you're in North Carolina! Beautiful state! I was stationed at Ft. Bragg in 1970 after my first tour in Vietnam. Got my first taste of "shine" there!
