Hello everyone. Been a while since I have been on. Life has been overcome by events. Picked up a 2005 Kubota RTV 900 diesel with 300 hours in a local sale couple of weeks ago. Nice little machine. Biggest complaint is being thrown through the windshield when my foot slipped off the accelerator pedal. So I have been researching the issues. Read all posts that I could find. Have done the coast relief valve adjustment (out 2.5 turns). That did the most in reducing the automatic breaking action and made it acceptable. But in doing so, it will not even get to 20 mph on level ground. Adjusted servo control valve a total of estimated 3 turns out and adjusted throttle cable slack. Has plenty of part throttle power but will not reach 20 mph. This is with the injection pump lever full open. I have run in the stop bolt under the accelerator pedal to let cable pull IP wide open.

Now my question, do I need to go more out on the servo control adjustment? It was already less than hand tight. In loosening the lock nut, the adjusting servo screw turned somewhat on its own as I was backing off the lock nut, so I had to guess how many turns. Is there a starting point to get back to, to see where I should start adjustments on the servo or just keep with the fine adjustments in searching for the golden spot? How much is too much?

Great to be back. Thanks in advance.
David

If you don't mind, please describe your situation. Maybe we can talk ourselves through. I have had this RTV 900 three weeks now. It is a 2005 with 304 hours.

I bought my 2005 with 500 hrs. about a month ago and soon found the same abrupt stopping so looked at all the threads I could find on the subject. I haven't done anything yet because our property is very steep and I don't want to lose the trans. braking but would like to smooth it out some and hopefully end up with easier shifting on a grade.I was hoping someone would tell us if there is a good fix without any bad side effects such as your loss of speed or other's loss of braking.

You can take out the coast valve and loosen it 3 turns. I still have some breaking, but it is a gentle breaking. Much nicer! If after adjusting you don't like it, you can go back. I am getting used to the 20 mph max speed and probably will leave it as it is for now. Maybe someone more experienced will come along...

Thanks,I'll try it. Have no need for speed over 20mph but do need braking, just not as abrupt as it is now.

Have the same model... it was a huge problem at first but now not at all as everyone knows how to feather the pedal.

The site is very steep and with some extreme grades... the 900 motor braking has been excellent in this regard.

I installed an aftermarket coast valve. Love it. Easy to install. Paid somewhere around $125. Found it thru Google.
