Satoh Buck
Hey everyone. I am new to the forum and as of today the proud owner of a Satoh Buck S470. It has a Bush Hog mower on it and weights on the front. Of course I already payed with it and mowed over an old overgrown garden bed.

It starts and runs great, nearly everything seems to be in order. Plans for this guy are to get a Box blade for road maintenance, cut some underbrush and trails and use the Box Blade to grade trails also. Also have plans for a middle buster to help turn the garden each year before tilling.

One question for you with more experience with this than I have... (that would be ALL of you).

The differential lock pedal does not seem to do anything. It is resting on the set screw (bolt) so when I push on it it isalready against the stop. Does that make sense? I hit all pivot points with PB blaster and loosened the not that the bracket sits on, but still cannot get any movement due to that set screw. With the plans I have for this little tractor, I am sure I will need the diff lock from time to time.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

John

Welcome to the forum. I have gotten a lot of help, I hope you will too. My differential lock was stuck as well. I just took a ball-peen hammer and gently whacked the lever back into place (down). I think you are on the right track with the pb blaster. If you haven't yet gotten a service manual I suggest you do. They are invaluable.

John,
I agree with skylark. Mine was stuck on my Buck when I got the tractor. It would not budge, I just kept hitting it with the PB Blaster and tapping it lightly with my whammer and it eventually broke free. These are great little tractors and will do tons of work. If you can find a roll bar for it that would make it a lot safer. Check with Bill at Valley Power if you need parts.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Being a long time jeep owner and modifier, I very familiar with PB blaster and a BFH. I will keep at it and I will keep you up to date.

As for the roll bar, that will go onto my "sooner rather than later" welding project list.

Thanks again,

John

Congrats on your acquisition , I got mine last November and am waiting to play in the snow with it . So far I haven't had any diff lock problems with mine .

Welcome. Nice looking tractor. Nothing to add about the differential lock, second the motions for PB Blaster, BFH, and a service manual. Mine has worked pretty well so far, although sometimes I have to stomp on it pretty good. I use it in a few sloped spots in the yard since I started using the tractor for mowing this summer.
