New To Forum - STOP Warning Light on JD4044r

Have a 4044r with less than 200 hrs. on the machine. When cutting thick hilly pasture with 6ft bh...after tractor has ran for an hour or 2, the rpms will drop, like its gas starved, then the tractor will die and the STOP light will come on. If I take the load off, it will work fine but will not work under the load for a couple of hours. Its almost like it is overworked/overheated. The oil temp gauge never reads hot. I can go out he next day and cut again but an hour or 2 in, it will do it again. Yesterday, I had this problem, stopped cutting, went and moved gravel / did loader work with no issues but if I would have continued to cut, the problem gets worse to the point it wont start. Can anyone provide guidance on how to diagnose or correct this problem? Thanks

Disconnect the fuel line somewhere between the tank and the fuel filter. Put a bucket under it and observe the flow. It should be good and steady. If it slows or stops you've narrowed down your problem. If that test is fine try replacing the fuel filter. It is also possible you've got a clogged vent cap on your tank but that is lower on the list of likely problems. You could also have a pinched fuel line somewhere. Running the mower with a PTO takes a lot more power than running the on board hydraulic pump to work the loader.

Are you certain it’s not over heating AND cooling system is full?

This is a new tractor to me and began using this tractor a few weeks ago. First time I have been on a tractor in 25 years...these newer tractors are not like the ones I remember. So - would you explain what you mean.

If the cooling system is low/ empty on water the temperature gauge won’t read. Also your post said gas. You didn’t actually use gas did you?
