Hi I just got a RTZ 50 off Craigslist and it turned out to have a bad LH Transmission. I got a new transmission but it doesn't have the hub. What is involved with getting the old hub off? Thanks

Not sure maybe youtube.com could give some pointers.

Welcome to TBN. Basically remove the bolt and pull it off.

Thanks that's what it looked like but I thought I read something that said the shaft was tapered and the hubs sometimes were frozen on. I will give it a try.

you could always use a gear puller if needed!.

You didn't post the chassis number, but I believe these to be just a double D shaft. Hang it from the hub and soak it with penetrant first if you have a hard time and then support the hub and drive the shaft through if you are shy a puller.

Thanks everyone, I will try a gear puller and penetrant if I have a problem.

Quick Update, I replaced the LH transmission this week with a new one I got on Ebay for $540. It fit perfect and other than not knowing what I was doing it went fairly well. I did manage to turn probably a 2 hour job in to about 4 hours, lol but it did all come together in the end and worked great. It just always seemed like I needed a third hand. Tractor drives perfect but I am just so nervous about these transmissions, I had no idea they were so weak. Thanks everyone for your help, maybe next I will try to rebuild the old one.

Congratulations on a job well done.
Yes, one can only wounder why CC would put such a fragile transmission in a lawn tractor.

Best of luck with your new tranny.
