After doing some research I broke down and purchased a tiller. I use to rent them but decided to get my own so I don't have the hassle of renting. I bought a Cub Cadet after looking at Husquevarna, Craftsman, etc. Used it once so far and seems to do a good job. I decided on this mainly due to the Honda engine.

Before I got a tractor and a tiller to go with it, I had a Craftsman rear tine, counterrotating 17" tiller and it was a dandy. I'm not familiar with the Cub Cadet, but as you said, with a Honda engine, it ought to be a good one.

IMO there isn't much difference in the quality and durability of tillers under about $1000-1500 new. Pick a tiller in this range based on availability, service providers, price, features, and color if you want. I have a Husqvarna 700DRT, bought last summer, and I expect it will prove to be no better and no worse than a Cub Cadet or Craftsman over the next 10 yrs or so. I was interested in the Cub Cadet like yours before I bought, but none of my local dealers had 1 and said they couldn't guarantee when they would get 1 if they ordered it.

Let us know how it holds up as you put some hrs on it--there aren't a lot of good user reviews on walk behind tillers on TBN.
