I inherited a John Deere L110 Lawn Mower with a bad transmission. The mower would not move in either direction. Not knowing how severe the problem was, I opted to purchase a new T40A transmission (John Deere part number AM134125) directly from Tuff Torq and change out the transmissions myself. I re-connected everything on the new transmission just like was connected to the old transmission.

The new transmission seems to work fine, but there is a noticable noise when I let the clutch out (sort of like a whining noise). The noise stops when I press the clutch/brake. When I let the clutch out, this is when the transmission belt actually starts turning the pulley on the transmission. When I press the clutch/brake, the pulley stops turning. The belt looks OK to me, but maybe something needs adjusting.

Is it normal for a new Tuff Torq transmission to make a whining noise when the pulley is being turned? The transmission seems to work fine both going forward and backward.

Thanks.
