New RTV for 2014?

/ New RTV for 2014? #61
ok, I built identical 1100's. the options for both were the front back light and spray bed liner.
rtv1100 -msrp $20,885..
rtvx1100 msrp $21385.

exactly $500 difference. with the suspension and front end updates alone I would pay double that. not to mention its 100lb lighter and almost 3" axle width increase. could care less about tranny update. when these thing hit the market and get out there it will kill our resale prices. to finally have an rtv that can drive off road is awesome.

Dunno...When I priced mine it came in around 28k...Ergo the replacement insurance cost on my '09 I guess. Paid 17k four years ago for what I have.

The cost of these is more than I have ever paid for all but one of my cars and can't find anyway to justify the expense... especially new.

I have the poormans RTV

My 1988 Suzuki Samuari it my RTV... I haul boulders, firewood, supplies, concrete, tow trailers, etc and I paid $1,000 for it 13 years ago.

Plus it has a nice heater/defroster and I can drive it to the filling station or into town.

How do you make the numbers work?

I test drove the rtvx900 and the rtv900xt and ended up buying the 900xt. The 3 range transmission on the xt won me over and the 0% for 60 months didnt hurt.
Will be delivered on monday, cant wait.

I don't care for the 2 range either. But the bed being shorter and the transmission sticking out past the rear tires were the deal breakers.

If my 900 wears out, which I don't think will be any time soon, the hunt will be on to find another one used.

Good suggestion the Samuari.

well, you know the old saying..'if you have to ask...' lol

those samurai make great off road vehicles, and used to be cheap.

"As fate would have it"

I bought my RTV after 24 years in the service; 90% of which occurred in a parachute harness and/or "off road".

Having the mud-bogging, hill-climbing, over-turning, & self-recovery years well behind me (I have a come-along patch) and nothing but hunting, ranching, and mini-forestry ahead of me, my RTV should last a little longer.............etc.

"Hats off" to the people who can afford to take a $20K (+) OHV off-road into the mud-bogs.

When I brought it home... my brother sure gave me a ribbing... he said thought very little of them.

Fast forward and he thinks they are one tuff little unit...

If the right RTV happened along I would not be opposed.

My neighbor uses his gator all the time.. it's gas and two wheel drive and he loves that thing and it hauls stuff all over his couple of acres... I think part of his fun was making gator trails.

My nieces love to go for a ride in it and keep asking if I will get one.

I am waiting to hear how this new independent rear suspension does. I have pretty good side hills and put very heavy loads for hauling and do not want one side tucking in on a hillside.

Second I am interesting how the newer wider range VHT does and its stall speed and ability to get going on a hill.

any buy one?

Yes, we picked up a Camo RTV-X1100C yesterday. I will post pictures in another thread later. We have owned a Polaris 700xp and traded it in on a 800xp in 2010. We were looking at trading again for a Polaris but with all the heat and noise in the cab of ours; we thought we would try something else this time. Plus, we wanted the climate controlled cab. Also, I find we don't need or want to go faster anymore. I just turned 40 in November and my wants have changed. A sign of aging I guess. :confused2::laughing:

I just sat in one at my dealer. The seats are much more comfortable. It also has 2 radiators, one up front and one on the side where it used to be. The cab is a lot more comfortable in general. I might trade up.

OK i will bite....I picked up a new Kubota RTV-X900 in late December and am very happy with it. I got it with a glass windshield and poly roof. It is a fine machine for my purpose.

Do you use it for ranch/farm work or more recreational?

/ New RTV for 2014? #76
I guess you would say at this point it is mostly recreational (riding around our property, etc), however I did mount a snow plow on it that I had laying around and it plowed the driveway a couple times and worked very well. In the near future we intend to get some beef cows and pigs so it was purchased with that in mind. I have experience with some other brands, Deere, Kioti, Polaris and they are all fine machines but the Kubota was the right fit for me.

I've sure thought one would come in handy for me when I have help..

Working alone, the TLB does everything well.

When I have help... there is no good way with a single seat tractor and supplies to carry extra people.

PS Congratulations on your 10 year TBN anniversary!

I am considering the new 1100. I have a 2007 1100 that has been great. I live in SC so the a/c is a definite plus. My dealer does not have one and is only ordering for a sale. Says the 1100 is just too expensive to sit on the lot. I really like my 2007 except for the very uncomfortable back rest. Mechanically the unit has been exceptional. The real problem I have had is the RTV eats radios because Kubota had a leak issue and never recalled the units, or that is what my dealer said. The radio placement is such that if the windshield is opened and there is any moisture it will drip onto the dash and conveniently find its way to the radio. We all know water and circuit boards don't like each other. Placed clear silicone around the radio opening so hopefully this third radio is it! Replacement radios were $160 or so each, not through the dealer. I also have a 1995 JD diesel Gator 6x4 which just keeps running. The JD has been the best utility vehicle ever, but only in good weather.

What's your experiece good or bad with Green Valley Tractor?

Sorry some how missed your blog but my experience has been good. Sometimes I think I get a little lost and might not get a reply right away but Ron has always taken time to discuss many things and ideas with me when I stop by.

Good to know... thanks for the reply!

I have had good dealings with his father or it could have been his father-in-law in the past.
