Welded a 2 inch receiver into the bucket so I could retrieve my trailer that has been languishing in a muddy spot off my tractor trail. I could reach it with the bucket with the tractor mostly on the dryish trail.

I did that!
Does not work well for me.
Even with the tongue jack all the way up, the hitch ball being near the top of the bucket is too high.
Then, using a drop hitch insert instead, puts the ball low, and out of sight from the tractor seat.

I bought a hitch that slips onto one of my forks.
The forks stick way out, so that hitch will work at any coupler height, and can be easily seen from the seat.

There the main reason I haven’t done that. Especially with the yard bucket on the M59. I’ve planned on putting one on my pallet fork frame but I haven’t got around to that.

Yep, same here. Too high to be very useful. I ended up buying on that clamps onto the lower lip of the bucket and that does the trick.

I welded the smaller (1.25" ) receiver tube on the bottom of the bucket. Works great for moving trailers and putting boats in the water. It is a little hard to hook up by yourself but you get used to it.

I figured it would be too high for trailer hauling but useful for other devices that I might want to use , ie; boom pole or hoist.
I don't plan on pulling or pushing the trailer far with it as I have a rear hitch for that.
It really was just a way to get to the mired trailer without going into the mud.

If the OP gets a drop receiver like on the tall 4x4 guys use it should work fine. Might be hard to see to line up but I am sure you will get use to it.

I didn't weld mine just bolted and works great when moving trailer in tight spots.

You can see that ball from the tractor seat?
Does not appear so in your picture.
