Finally broke down and traded in my 2305 (FEL, 54"MMM, 54" front blade, and mackissics chipper) for a brand new 3720 with FEL. I'm going to see the dealer again tomorrow afternoon to see if he'll let me trade in my LX4 brush hog and 48" snow blower (for a 425 lawn tractor) and pick up a used GT245 lawn tractor tractor (w/ bagger) they have on the lot for a good price. I've also already ordered my first implement!!! A woodmaxx WM-8m chipper. I should have everything by Friday!!

Before the end of the year, I'd like to get a flail mower and a front blade.

Congratulations on a real tractor!

I would buy the whole package while you can get the 0% financing imo. I suspect buying later will cost you more money.

How do you like that Woodmaxx chipper? I am trying to decide between the woodmaxx 8m and 8r vs the Wallenstein bx62. I like the feed system on the woodmaxx and the price is better. My concern is the quality of the unit. Is it made in china?

I really like it. Setup took a little longer than they say, but it chews through the wood pretty good and seems to be pretty heavy duty. It is made in china, but supported locally, and easy to get parts for.

Cool, I'm leaning hard toward the Woodmaxx. I don't quite understand the difference in the 8M and 8r. Of course the 8r has hydraulic driven feed motor, and the unit comes with a belt driven hydraulic pump that runs off the PTO to power it, so you get variable speed. But the 8m also has a self feeding drum, that I assume runs off a belt. Is variable speed the only difference? Or does the hydraulic system have some other advantage?

Most importantly, do you find that the power feed system on the 8m works well?

I have the mechanical feed which is basically one belt driven wheel that does not have variable speed. The only down side to this is that it does an 8" log and a 1" log/stick at the same speed. I didn't like this at first, but quickly learned to put more than one small branch in at the same time and it works fine.
I recently rented a 6" chipper (gas powered) that only had one wheel as well, and it worked great. One small gripe I do have is that there is a 1/2" space below the wheel, and small small vines and twigs will just sit there. But again, I just throw a bigger stick in with them, or set them aside for the flail mower!!!!

The bicycle cable on the safety for the feed wheel broke last weekend (got yanked off when I was moving the tractor thru the woods. I was going to remove this anyway because I never use it. There is a bar to raise the feed wheel too, and that is enough for me.

I'm thinking about the WoodMaxx 8H. For those who have bought this machine, is it heavy duty enough to hold up to lots of use? I live on 73 wooded acres and cut my own firewood. But the drought here in Texas has killed lots of my trees. I expect to be dealing with dead and falling trees a lot over the next year.
