This is my Craftsman Professional with top box. It is a pretty versatile box. It can hold a bunch of tools and is decently sturdy. I also have a Snap-On roll cab at my work place. It too will look good in the shop one day sitting beside the Craftsman. Y'all have some nice boxes, all of you. J

( QUESTION:WHAT DO YOU GUYS USE TO KEEP THE DUST AND FINGER PRINTS FROM SHOWING,PLEDGE?
ALAN )

Yup, I use one of them yellow cans of pledge furniture polish and some of them microfiber cloths. Works great and makes everything slick enough to not collect the fingerprints

Hi escavader,
Here's a pic of SOME of my tools and boxes. I'm only going to post this one because otherwise I'd steal your thread. These are about 1/4 of my machining tools. My wood working tools are in a different garage and my automotive tools are in a different one than that.
Then there are my tools at my property that I had to construct a "workshop" for.
Tooljunkie for sure... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Escavader,
Well I thought we had enough roll aways, so I thought I would post a picture of a toolmaklers chest I built a few years ago.

The chest is walnut, the drawers are butternut and the inlays are rosewood. And I also made most of the hardware.

ROB,
I can tell a machinist ,just by his shop .Isaw the dial caliper, and the cleanness, and organization, then i checked your bio,and i was right.I use to have an associate whom had a neat shop that made molds for a plastic ware, company. He also made me the curved shaped planer knifes for the cabin company i worked for, when i ran their planing mill. There is alot of talent behind that profession, making molds.
I have that same machinist box,at my most recent planing mill, filled with my machinist tools, dial indicators etc.Its the one on the bench on the right. If im not mistaken thats an old craftsman,if not, its a spitting image of mine.I thought i had the only one on earth left. However the boys at work soon found ,about any key would open it,so i had to weld a hasp on mine. Not that they would steal, they forget to return, and i have to chase my tools down.
DONT BE AFRAID OF SHOWING YOUR PICS,WE ALL WANT TO SEE THEM,THATS WHAT THIS COOL THREAD IS ALL ABOUT.I dont care if someone has 'stole my thread",there is no such thing .There have been many ,whom have had alot better than mine. This thread is about.showing off your boxs,so others can wish, just like looking at a tool category. If a person has worked hard to get nice things, they should be able to show them to their friends, especially on TBN.It dont matter if you have a large snap on,or a hand held walmart box,no one needs to be ashamed, thats just room to grow on,and by others posting, you might develop your want list /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
super nice shop!!!!!!!!!

That is some good craftsmanship. You could fetch big big bucks for that, but dont ever sell it.Your great grand kids will have that as an airloom,to show how talented their ancestors were. Can we have a few more shots of that? I couldnt keep that in my garage,id be afraid to scratch it.AWESOME JOB
Did you do the painting/?IF SO LETS SEE IT.

Alan,
Thank you for the kind words. It's not too often you meet people who understand and appreciate those of us in the "elbow grease" trades like you do. Yes, years of experience in the industry and super high tolerances.

That tool box you're referring to is actually a very old Kennedy. It was my Dad's who was also a tool maker. He passed on in '88 and I kept it. When I started in the trade at 18 yrs old, I couldn't afford a Gerstner box. Kennedy's were less expensive so I just kept buying them.

I have 4 sons and 3 of them are toolmakers too. I gave each of them 1 of my old boxes so I only have these left. When I worked on the "bench", they had to give me 2 stalls..one for me and one for my spare boxes. They never complained about it because I brought so many of my own tools into the company.

This is a neat thread you started and I hope to see many more posts. Very interesting!

And Sotty...WOW, what a super deluxe box that is! Just excellent craftsmanship. You should be very proud.
