New plant for biodiesel

Has anyone ever heard of using this plant, Jatropha Curcas, for biodiesel fuel source. Claims are made that it can produce up to 24 barrels of oil per acre in warm climates.

i'd love to find something that could be grown right on your own property, processed and used......

but, then again, i'm very independent.....i don't like to rely on others

Just think of the fuel tax the Federal and state would want to add to the seeds. kt

I read a little bit about biofuels, and have put some money into biofuel stocks, having said that I am no expert. So, now that I got the warnings out of the way, jatropha is a very new source for biofuels. Some people estimate that full scale usage of the plant may not take place for some time. I would recommend that you go to this link Biodiesel Magazine
and read what they have to say. Although this is an industry rag, it is actually pretty straightforward, and I find their reporting to only have a slight lean towards biofuels in general. Most of their discussions are very open and discuss the pitfalls associated with the vast varieties of feedstocks for biodiesel. You can also look at some of the jatropha related startup companies and see that most are in the planning stages or infancy.

I would highly recommend doing some Due diligence.
