Sure is a nice looking machine. And I like the new lights, perhaps it's not just the styling but the fact that put more light. As far as the blackberries, I agree with John above that digging them out works pretty well. Even if you kill them you still have to deal with now dried and harder pickers so doing it just once with the bucket usually works for me.
I'm color blind also but it's nice to have another member of the Blue Team. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cotton, by now you've had some good seat time. I just wanted to update you on my progress with blackberries since I bought a Woods toothbar. I cleared about 2 acres of saplings and TONS of blackberries this past weekend using the loader/toothbar. Man! what a difference the toothbar made in getting those pesky roots out. They would come back too soon with my previous method of just dragging them out. Hope you're having time to enjoy that great Blue tractor. If I bring my Kioti over, we can look like an ad for the Florida Gators! take care, John

Thank you everybody. This is going to be fun.
First time out, I cut some of the fast growing grass in one of my pastures. I tried to be very careful to not go across the slopes. There are some patches of long grass left untouched. I think that I need to develope a "feeling" on where I can go and where I cannot go with my new "BLUE".

I tried to attach a better pictures of the new "BLUE" to the post but the file is too large (>100000 bytes).

Cotton you may want to consider the purchase of a tilt meter sold at this site. It will help you to determine when a grade actually becomes too step to mow. If you have not yet seen one click on my signature link to see a few pictures of the meter and where I mounted mine. Most guys mount them on top of their hoods.

Doesn't it depend on the size/configuration of the tractor? Does the meter tell you that you're about to go too far, or do you need to know at what degree it WILL be too far? Seems to me that a shorter height tractor will not have a problem as soon as a higher height tractor. Does this meter compensate for the differences? I keep thinking I should get one, but have never really read much about their use. Thanks, John

Incredible! Would you tell me exactly how you did 2 acres in one week end? What angle and what position you level the tooth bar and FEL?

How many tilt meters do you have on your beautiful TC40D? I kept reading about the tilt meter on this forum. Some posters suggested that their Tilt Meter have sticking problems. I was thinking that to develope a physical sensation (the FEEL) first and install a Tilt Meter later for supporting indicator. I donot need to take the Boomer to the extreme slopes. I, however, do have quite a bit of steep slopes on my property need to be maintained.

I had two tilt meters on my B2710 Kubota; one for side to side and one from front to rear; worked great.
As for the sticking problem, I think if you read far enough, you'd find that Rick (R&B Manufacturing) corrected that and replaced any that anyone had any problem with.

What angle and what position you level the tooth bar and FEL?)</font> I guess to clarify, I worked on two acres of 5 that have a lot of trees, flowers, and other plants. I had to clear out all the volunteers, blackberries, old burned tree parts from a previous fire etc. I worked 4 solid days from early to dark. I angle the bucket down as I go in and push it into the ground while curling up under the roots until I can lift them out. At times, it just lays them over and then I back up and come back into the exposed root section and push while curling the bucket back. I would guess the bucket enters at about 45 deg. to the offending plant. Works great. Without the toothbar, I would not be able to get deep enough and tear the dirt up enough to dig them out and then load them into the bucket. Hope this answers your question. John

Roger thanks for the compliments. You will love the new toothbar. And it is easy to put on or take back off with just 2 bolts through the FEL bucket.
I had to stop for a bit as my digital camera finally died and I had no way to take the pictures needed. So I went shopping at eBay and found me a beauty in New York. Now that I have the new camera I will be adding pictures shortly for adding 3 rear remotes for a Class III Boomer and adding snow plow lights under a canopy. Stay Tuned!

Thanks for the suggestion. I went to the threads and read all the messages. I will definitely buy one for my new Boomer. I like the way you mount your Tilt Meter. How about the dual axel Tilt Meter? Can it be mounted on the same place you mount your meter?
Since I have no experience on tilted tractors I'd like to ask a simple question. How would a new operator (me) know the exact degrees that his tractor is about to tilt over? Does the Tilt Meter tell me that I am about to roll?
