John Deere 5320
Good morning all, I recently purchased a JD 5320 and it is my first real tractor, so I have signed up to a few locations online to learn more about it and find that a site like this has a lot of answers. It doesn't seem to have problems at the moment and I am having it moved to our property this month. I am considering having the local dealer perform a general maintenance on it like filter changes etc. before moving it to my place. Any recommendations, I am not sure what to even ask them to do. Still a lot to learn for me. thanks and glad I signed up here.

Nice looking tractor! How many hours and what type of transmission?

On maintenance it depends what the past owner has done, but I would change the oil and filter, hydraulic fluid, filter and clean picked screen (located back were the PTO connects). Oil in the front hubs and front axle. Grease it. Change the fuel filter, do this with a full tank of fuel and fill the filter before putting on and you should not have to bleed it. Have them check the quality of the anti-freeze. These are not hard to do and you could do, all our outlined in the operators manual.

If you have not already found here is a link to where you can get online operators manual.

Thank you, that is a good description. Yes I plan to get the tech manual and will eventually do most of the work myself. The current owner is a friend of mine that I have know for 20 years. So I have seen the tractor in action a lot and know that he takes care of it and uses the local dealer for routine service, keeps it in the barn out of the weather, etc. So I know it runs well. The hours LED meter needs to be replaced because it stopped working, we researched it and sounds like you have to replace the entire gauge panel. I checked its like $450 to replace. I can get the hours off the last service call. I am not concerned, it runs great and he only sold it to me because I asked for it, it wasn't ever for sale. He still has another tractor as well.

I will have them check what ever needs to be done and get the records before I move it. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. That looks like a nice tractor.

I'm going to move your thread over to the John Deere section. You should find lots more advice over there. :)

If the hourmeter is the only part of your display that doesn't work, you could install one of these to track your hours for service. Enm DC Hour Meter, 6 Digit, Round, 1-8VDC T4B45 | Zoro.com I have installed some of these for customers that didn't want to spend the money for a new instrument panel. Only downside is this style will count hours anytime the key is on, even if engine is not running, so hours may count up a little faster.

On the 5X10 the hour meter runs off the alternator/regulator.

JD parts lists a tachometer sensor mounted on timing gear cover for a 5320 which coincidentally is the same sensor that your 5210 utilizes

The attachment was taken from the JD TM1716.

It states - Current flows from battery, across closed contacts or key switch and out circuit 022. Flow continues through 10-amp fuse to circuit 072 and to alternator/regulator hourmeter positive side. Negative side of hourmeter connects to ground through circuit 010. Hourmeter runs whenever engine is running.

Thanks for correcting my mistake. I suppose sensor(RE519144) is for engine rpm only?
