MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE HIGH FLOW LINE BRACKET RITE BEHIND THE CAB WHERE THE LINES COME OUT AN MAKE A HARD 90 DEGREE BIND THEN RUN INTO THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER BAY. THE CYLINDER IS SOME HOW GETTING INTO THAT BRACKET HAD A JOB 2 WEEKS AGO THAT I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS RUBBING TILL 72 HRS LATER WHEN I WAS CLEANING THE MACHINE OFF TO TRAILER IT HOME, HAD THE LOADER ARMS UP CLEANING THE CYLINDER BAY OUT WHEN MY HAND RAN ACROSS THE SCARED CYLINDER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER GOT IT BACK WEEK LATER WENT TO A STUMP GRINDING JOB FOR 3HRS DID IT AGAIN CAUGHT IT IN TIME BEFORE IT GOT THE CYLINDER TO BAD.

I will look at mine and let you know. What is Cats solution to the problem ?

I looked at mine and they were fine. I will keep an eye on them . Thanks for the heads up. My machine has the debris barrier kit on it so my cylinders are covered from the front and makes it hard to see the cylinder.

My dealer had a spacer made to keep the cylinder for sliding over an getting into the bracket, also had the bracket milled down an inset the bolts holding it. But their still waiting for an answer from Cat for the finally solution to the problem

Which model 299 D do you have ? The larger arm early D machine or the thinner narrow arm late production machine ? Let us know if the spacer and milling the bracket solve the problem ?

New 299D XHP, I ran it today for 10hrs with the spacer no problems so far. My dealer said when they had image.jpgit in the shop working the arms up an down that cylinder was moving 3 inches sides to side.

I would also like to know what brand and capacity rating? I'm a little concerned about it.
