Hi All,

Thanks for the welcome! My finance and I just moved to Hollister, CA to start a farm. We're on great land that has been owned by the family for centuries, however the ranch has been out of operation for many years now. We are going to bring it back

We both grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago IL so needless to say we dont know much about farming. We know we can do it though.

At the moment, we have most of the machines we will need to get started but are still in need of a few things. We have an 8N Ford and a D4? tractor. We have about three acres of land disked. We are in the market for a rotary mower, bed shaper to prep the land for planting.

If anyone has or knows someone who has these parts (used), please let us know. Additionally, if anyone has some good pointers on seed germination and planting, that would be very appreciated too.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new adventure. Being brand new to farm life I think the best thing you can do is talk to your Ag Extension Agent. County offices - Agriculture and Natural Resources - University of California Their purpose in life it to help those like yourself with all things agriculture.
